Circles for Learning has been proven in classrooms. Hear from teachers how it positively affects pupil mental health and wellbeing in these case studies.
Supporting Emotional Regulation
Circles for Learning has been introduced in an SEMH school for children in Y7. One of the key areas the teacher wanted to focus on was learning and managing the emotions around learning.
With support from the Circles for Learning coach, this teacher wanted to explore why PPA times where challenging for their Y6 children with high levels of additional needs.
“The outcome for some of my most disaffected learners was profound. Circles for Learning has opened up a world of opportunities and provided fundamental emotional building blocks for all the children who experienced the project.”
How a Collapsing Brick Tower Led to a Regulation Station
This teacher used Circles for Learning's parent and baby observations to help the classroom explore one young boy's block throwing frustrations. The result was a 'regulation station' to help them manager how they were feeling.
Circles for Learning helped this Y2 class to explore tempermant and how we deal with new situations. Follow-up work saw the children understand their differences and saw the teacher transition with the pupils from infant to junior school.
Circles for Learning helped this Y3/Y4 class to understand now frustration could turn to anger and how to deal with these feelings. The children created an 'angry thermometer' and created a word wall of feelings.
"The Circles for Learning work gave me time and space to explore emotions and how they make us feel which led to the class becoming more empathetic and tolerant of each other."
Creating Empathy and Tolerance in the Classroom
A small moment in one session saw children explore sadness and share stories of what made them feel sad. As a result new relationships formed underpinned by tolerance and understanding.
